With Roger French, the managing director of Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company, showing such strong support for all the new Brighton and Hove parking restrictions, which, to quote him, "help keep the city moving", I was a little surprised to find his company itself does not abide by the rules.
I walked past the bus garage on Thursday evening at 7.30 and, to my amazement, there were buses parked in all the car-parking bays in Goldstone Street, where parking has to be paid for until 8pm and guess what? None of the buses had a pay and display sticker. On Friday morning after 9am, the bays in Conway Street were filled with buses and, again, no evidence of payment was displayed.
Does Mr French, who supports a directly-elected mayor, consider his company to be above the law?
He is either in favour of the parking restrictions or he isn't. Or is it a case of one law for car drivers and a different one for him?
Own up, Mr French.
