High winds kept Sussex firefighters busy through the night.
An empty 600 sqm marquee at Brighton University was thrown against trees as gusts reached 60mph.
The tent was erected for freshers' week at the Cockcroft Building in Lewes Road, Brighton.
Fire crews tied it down.
Scaffolding on buildings in Kingsway, Hove, and Little Western Street, Brighton, had to be made safe, and crews had to secure open windows in Bedford Towers flats, above the Bedford Hilton Hotel on Brighton seafront.
A dangerous sign was made safe in Kings Road, Hastings.
