Survival in the business jungle does not have to be about the fittest, leanest and meanest organisations.
Business owners need to have their wits about them but they do not necessarily have to be Tarzan to survive.
According to experts at the University of Brighton's Centre for Research in Innovation Management (CENTRIM), a chameleon-like adaptability is the key in the fast-moving world of business.
Bright ideas are an intrinsic part of this process, according to the researchers.
The department, part of the university's Business School, is staging a one-day seminar on Wednesday, October 31, held by Professor John Bessant, professor of technology management, whose master classes have helped the UK Atomic Energy Authority, the World Bank, United Nations Industrial Development Organisation and GlaxoSmithKline.
Professor Bessant said: "Competing requires the mobilisation of all the knowledge, creativity and learning capacity in the organisation. Creating the kind of organisation in which people feel capable of and committed to continuous change has become one of the highest management priorities in the early 21st Century."
