A consultative public meeting in Brighton on September 28 outlined proposals to move, among others, the breast cancer services from Royal Sussex County Hospital Brighton to Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath.
This move would seriously disadvantage all the women in Brighton and Hove and Lewes who may need to use this service.
The journey to Haywards Heath by public transport is difficult, expensive and time-consuming compared to travelling to the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
The consultation period closes on October 19, so I urge all the charities and the women of Brighton and Hove and Lewes to make their views known to the Central Sussex Partnership on 01903 708557 or any of the local health trusts or health authorities.
The Government wants more patient participation in the planning of services and the running of the NHS, so let's start now with this very important issue.
We must keep this service where the majority of the users reside, in Brighton and Hove.
