A man detained at Gatwick Airport under the Prevention of Terrorism Act has been released without charge.
He was allowed to leave police custody but has since been held by immigration control.
The 36-year-old man was on his way to America when he was stopped by police.
He has not been named but it was initially thought he was attempting to follow the same route to America as 11 of the 19 suicide hijackers behind last month's terror attacks.
