Worthing coach Ian Davies admits he is puzzled by early season results in London Three South East.
The Roundstone Lane outfit got off the mark with wins over East Grinstead and Crawley, without really producing their best rugby.
Sidcup followed up their opening 30-10 success at East Grinstead by defeating Dunstonians 37-13 last Saturday.
Davies said: "We thought Sidcup would be up there and they seem to be quite strong.
"Brighton's results have been interesting. We expect them to get better and there is always the rivalry to take into account.
"It doesn't really matter how well each team is doing when we play each other in the league.
"Charlton Park have only got one point which is a bit surprising.
"They were the three teams we were targeting this year."
Davies' major bonus from the opening two games was his side's defensive record.
They kept a blank scoresheet at Crawley, then restricted Grinstead to four Steve O'Reilly penalties in last week's 22-12 win.
Davies added: "That's two games without conceding a try which is pleasing.
"We still have players to come back from injury and our target is to make sure we are still near the top when they return."
Horsham found their trip to Rye to be an arduous affair last week.
Three players turned up late after making the two-hour trek across Sussex.
Horsham eventually scraped through 24-10 but skipper Guy Hannell said: "Rye were a better side than we probably expected."
Top referee Ed Morrison will be speaking at the Sussex Society's get together at Lewes RFC on Monday (7.30pm).
All are welcome as the society bid to increase the number of referees on their books.
