Albion boss Micky Adams has called on his players to bounce back from their first home League defeat for ten months.
The Seagulls visit fellow high-fliers Huddersfield on Saturday following Friday's rare Withdean setback against promotion rivals Brentford.
Huddersfield missed out on a chance to go top yesterday when they lost 3-2 at QPR, while Peterborough have jumped to sixth after a 2-0 win against Northampton Adams, who is presented tomorrow with the manager of the month award for September, said: "We've had a great start.
"We have lost a game at home and we are disappointed with that, but we have got to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and look forward to the Huddersfield game.
"I've said this month will probably be a big test for us. They are all big games. We have set ourselves up to have a good season and to do that we have got to play the teams in and around us and do well against them.
"I don't think Brentford looked any better than us. It was just that certain individuals didn't perform to their best. Our fans have probably been spoilt and we possibly took it a little bit for granted. We maybe went out with the attitude that all we had to do was turn up to win again."
Brentford became the first team to beat Albion at Withdean in the League since New Year's Day.
They also ended the Seagulls' streak of 12 straight home League wins, but Bees boss Steve Coppell still expects Adams' side to finish in the top eight.
"They have got a little bit of everything," he said. "They have a very potent threat with Zamora, they are strong at the back, dangerous from set pieces and can physically overpower teams."
Albion's next home match on Saturday week is against Oldham, another of the promotion contenders.
Adams said: "It's always nice to hear opposing managers paying you compliments, but the big guns are waiting for us and we have to respond to the challenge that awaits us."
Adams must decide whether to start with Lee Steele up front alongside Zamora at Huddersfield.
Steele came off the bench at half time to grab the Seagulls' equaliser in the 2-1 defeat by Brentford.
