Worthing fought back from two goals down to grab a 3-2 win at Mid Sussex in the Kent/Sussex Regional Hockey League.
This was Worthing's first victory since promotion last season and it was inspired by two goals from Mark Duncan.
Rex Fuller proved to be the match-winner and success was sweet for Worthing against a Mids outfit still looking for their first points of the season.
Worthing skipper Simon Holloway said: "It was payback for the last time we played them in this league as they beat us both times then.
"It looked like going that way again. They started better than us and initially looked quite strong but we came back into it. Mid Sussex were 1-0 ahead at half time. In the second half we dominated but they scored early on to go 2-0 up but then they faded out. I think fitness came into it. We have been doing a lot of running in training and that certainly helped us."
Steve Newton scored the only goal of the first half to put Mids ahead and Jason Fitzpatrick doubled the advantage with another goal soon after the re-start. Worthing reduced the deficit when Duncan scored following a short corner and then the same player levelled matters when, following fine work from David Edmondson, he fired home after Holloway's shot came back off the keeper.
Fuller made at 3-2 when a short corner came back to him and Worthing had further chances in the closing stages with Duncan missing a chance to complete his hat-trick and Matt Ansell seeing a shot hit keeper Greg Purdie's helmet before flying over.
Holloway added: "Trailing 2-0 it is hard to come back but we got one and then an equaliser and after that we were definitely favourites to win it."
Mids' Phil Middleton said: "We had a lot of chances in the first half but they did very well to come back into the game. We should have been enough ahead to put the game beyond doubt."
Brighton made it two wins from two games with a highly impressive 3-2 success at home to Herne Bay.
Egyptian international Mohamed Nagey followed up his debut brace with another two goals as Brighton saw off opponents expected to be one of the forces in this league.
Victory looked unlikely as the hosts trailed with ten minutes to go. Nagey scored from a short corner to put Brighton 1-0 ahead at half time but Herne Bay levelled early in the second half and then went 2-1 ahead.
With time running out, debutant Tim Karps scored a fine goal off a short corner and then victory was secured when skipper Carlo Missirian fed Nagey in the D and he turned sharply to score a reverse strike.
Missirian said: "It could have gone either way. If we had scored all our chances and they had scored all theirs, it would have been 7-5.
"We have had a good start. People are confident and we are looking forward to seeing how we do against Holcombe this weekend. They are the team to beat as they have picked up a couple of South Africans, so this will be crucial for us."
Matt Ahmed, a late call-up after Paul Barlow withdrew, netted for Horsham but they lost 3-1 at home to a strong Blackheath side.
Skipper Mark Ansell inspired the goal, dribbling through before laying the ball off for Ahmed to put Horsham ahead. But Blackheath scored twice early in the second half and then added a dubious third in the closing stages.
Crawley went down 3-2 away to a Folkestone side hammered 6-0 by Blackheath the previous week.
A good first half performance saw Crawley lead 2-1 at the interval. After falling behind to a goal against the run of play, Crawley levelled when Terry Higgs converted following a short corner and they went ahead when Garry Hardwick's hit a post and Innes fired home the rebound on his debut.
Folkestone took the game to Crawley in the second half andforced an equaliser before snatching victory.
Eastbourne beat promoted Crowborough 3-2 in Kent/Sussex division one.
With both sides contributing to a niggly affair, Eastborne went 1-0 ahead when Nick Corbett converted a penalty flick and they doubled their advantage when Neil Cunningham netted from open play.
Crowborough rallied in the second half with goals from Pulman and Dougie but Cunningham's second of the game sealed victory for Eastbourne.
Winning skipper Tony Hayes said: "Overall, we deserved the win. It was quite a good performance for us and certainly much better than last week."
Middleton and Bognor's match away Burnt Ash was postponed after the Sussex side's minibus broke down on the way .
