I am appalled at the idea of the Nigel Porter Unit being moved to Haywards Heath.
It seems no consideration has been given to travelling arrangements, especially for the elderly, home-alones and non-drivers.
The Royal Sussex County Hospital is central to most people, with an excellent bus service and taxi rank outside its doors. Why make patients move beyond the city?
When the Polyclinic at Hove was planned, why wasn't the unit incorporated in the scheme of things then? The proposal to move must have been in the pipeline for some time.
Having been a patient at the unit for the past eight years and having had two operations for cancer, I do appreciate the value of the treatment, advice and care given by the staff.
I am trusting The Argus campaign to fight the transfer will be successful.
