Grant Talibard's show of sportsmanship on TV show The Weakest Link lost him £2,000 but won him a lot of admirers.
Grant, of Holland Road, Hove, was beaten in the final of the BBC programme.
Given the chance to vote off the programme's strongest link in the previous round Grant, 41, decided to keep his rival in to make the show more interesting.
Unfortunately, Grant lost when he appeared last Thursday.
But he said he had no regrets and had been recognised several times in the street and applauded for his actions.
Grant, who runs a company called The Grass is Greener, said: "All the questions I got wrong I actually didn't know. I was not fazed being in the studio and I wasn't scared by Anne either.
"In fact I gave Anne quite a bit back, a lot of which was edited out. People have said I gave a good account of myself.
"I was asked one question about gardening, for which the answer was Lily of the Valley. I got it right.
"At one point, Anne asked me if my brain had been blown away in the wind!"
