A gang of youths threatened a man and stole his money as he left a Mid Sussex post office.
The victim, in his late 30s and described by police as vulnerable, was approached by three youths in Church Walk, Burgess Hill.
He had just left the post office with benefit money, which he had put in a small bag round his waist.
PC Rachel Mundy, of Burgess Hill police, said the youths approached him and asked him if his bike was for sale.
They then threatened to push the man over if he did not give them his money.
They followed him a short distance before one of them walked up to him, unzipped his bag and stole £20 from it before running off towards the Martlets shopping centre.
Police have appealed for witnesses to the robbery, which happened at about 4pm on Monday.
