How right John Parry was (The Argus, October 5) regarding the City of Culture bid.
To even contemplate such a bid without the magnificent West Pier being restored to its former glory is just nonsense.
Isn't it high time the entire city got behind the restoration of the West Pier once and for all?
The present trust has done tremendous work in achieving the Heritage Lottery Award.
This pier's decline is not just a local disgrace, it's a national disgrace - the only Grade I listed pier in the country.
Let's have some pride in it. Stand up and be counted.
