Having just returned from the party conference in Blackpool, how I most certainly agree with B Jenkins (Letters, October 13).
When I first arrived, I was amazed at the amount of people around, all spending furiously and having a really good time.
There were a few lager louts but after a quiet word from a friendly bobby all was quiet again.
There was certainly much more entertainment. All three piers and almost every bar had some sort of show or cabaret.
Apart from the usual array of chip wrappings (which were cleared by the following morning), the streets were spotless.
I also found I could wander around without fear, even late at night, something I cannot do in my home city, where I have lived all my life.
I would never leave Brighton but when you see what other towns can offer, how about Brighton and Hove councillors taking a trip to Blackpool and coming back with some fresh ideas?
I was there for seven days and did not see one vagrant or beggar and, more importantly, not one Big Issue seller.
