Worried residents have formed an action group to save their community arts centre.
The All Saints Arts Centre in Friars Walk, Lewes, was threatened with closure after it ran into financial trouble.
Now, people using the centre have now formed the All Saints Action Group to work on a business plan to keep it up and running.
Group chairman Russell Beck said: "The centre does an enormous amount of good for the town and it is the only central focal point of activity.
"People of all age groups go there and it has been going for over 20 years."
The All Saints Arts and Youth Centre Ltd ran the centre until it stopped trading last month.
Lewes Town Council, which owns the building, agreed to take over until a new management team was found.
Councillor Jim Daly said the centre costs between £500 and £600 a month to run.
He added: "The centre is a general facility for lots of groups and it is difficult to attract funding for that. But we're determined it's not going to shut and we have had a few people interested in running it."
