MONDAY: Acting manager Bob Booker pays tribute to the mental strength of the players after the 2-1 win at Huddersfield.

"It was a difficult week for everybody," Booker says. "They had to be strong mentally and they were from the moment we travelled up after training on Friday to the final whistle."

TUESDAY: A makeshift Seagulls line-up win 2-1 at crisis club Swansea in the LDV Vans Trophy.

A last-gasp goal by Lee Steele sets up a second round tie in the southern section at home to Wycombe Wanderers on October 30.

Booker reveals: "I was just about to take him off because of extra time, but he kept coming over and asking to stay on."

WEDNESDAY: Peter Taylor is confirmed as Albion's eighth manager in as many years at an afternoon press conference at Withdean.

Taylor, armed with a three year contract, pledges: "Looking at the position of the team you would expect to try and get in the play-offs, if not automatic promotion."

A fledgling reserve side loses 2-1 to Bristol Rovers at Worthing, despite Daniel Marney giving them the lead.

THURSDAY: Taylor meets the players for the first time at the club's temporary training base, Christ's Hospital School in Horsham.

"I know that the players are a very close bunch," he says. "They are very happy with each other and very confident in each other's ability and it's a little bit like the Gillingham situation when I went there."

FRIDAY: Taylor takes his first training session but relies on Booker and director of youth Martin Hinshelwood to pick the team following their two wins in caretaker charge.

"They have seen them play in the last few matches," Taylor explains. "I am looking forward to watching them."
