Sammy Donnelly insists his Worthing side could still creep into the promotion shake-up.
Rebels' squad has been depleted in recent weeks, with Ben Jones and Simon James the latest to leave this week and Marc Rice expected to follow.
But Donnelly saw his side battle to a 2-0 win at struggling Bromley in midweek and said: "We are not that far away from the top sides.
"Even against Bishops Stortford last week, when we lost 4-2, I thought we were the better side in open play.
"My priority now is to keep in touch with the top half dozen and see what happens from there, but the task will not be made any easier by losing players.
"What I am really looking for is a bit of consistency. I would really like to see us put a run together of maybe four wins and leave us with a bit more in hand."
Rebels defender Stuart Tuck was this week subject of an approach from Lewes.
Losing the former Albion defender would be a hammer blow but Donnelly will expect him to stay at Woodside Road.
Lloyd Vanson, currently double-signed with Shoreham, is likely to get a chance in coming weeks while Lee Cox was recalled from Ringmer to act as substitute in midweek.
