A West Sussex pensioner was injured as she foiled two muggers who tried to steal her handbag.
The 66-year-old heard people run up to her from behind as she walked through a Littlehampton alley on her way to the shops.
Police say before she could turn round she felt someone grab her handbag.
She was pulled to the ground, suffering slight leg and neck injuries, but managed to hold on to the bag. A police spokesman said: "She saw two youths running off laughing."
The incident happened in an alley known as Hampton Fields in the Wick area at 2.30pm on Saturday.
Police said the woman was shaken but did not need hospital treatment. Officers were today questioning two teenagers.
Witnesses are asked to contact Detective Constable Keith Fifield on 0845 6070999, extension 81388.
