Worthing fought back from going three goals down after only 20 minutes to end up losing 4-3 against Staines.
An own goal from Mark Burt midway through the second half gave Staines maximum points in the clash at Walton and Hersham's ground.
Burt powerfully headed into his own net from 18 yards after a cross from the left by Derick Walters as Rebels unbeaten five match run away from home was ended.
A mistake by keeper James Wastell allowed Lee Chudy to give Staines a seventh minute lead and Chudy set up Stuart Lake for the second 11 minutes later.
Jon Underwood headed Staines further in front unchallenged from a corner by Steve Talboys, but Rebels hit back with two goals in two minutes from Gavin Geddes and Darren Baxter.
Geddes beat keeper Matthew Lovett from 18 yards from Stuart Tuck's pass before Baxter seized on a ball from Paul Kennett to score with a left foot shot from an acute angle.
Worthing completed their comeback five minutes before the break when Geddes headed a corner by Mark Knee into the top left hand corner for his 13th of the season and fourth in three games.
Rebels should have been ahead before Burt's own goal settled the issue, and Lee Weston had a left foot shot saved by Lovett following a penetrating run.
Horsham drew 1-1 with Marlow at Queen Street in division two but lack of firepower cost them two points.
Horsham saw their opponents twice clear the ball off the line in the opening four minutes. First, Jamie Taylor's angled drive was blocked by winger Matt Clarke, then left-back Jeff Lamb was in the right place to hack away Gavin McGowan's low right-footer.
Horsham substitute Ben Jones had the best opening of the half but lifted the ball over approaching goalkeeper Lee Carroll and the bar.
Marlow took the lead in the 57th minute. Robert Gibson's persistence in battling through the Horsham defence saw him clear of keeper Ian Chatfield and he shot above Luke Gedling, who was defending the line.
Eleven minutes later, Gedling was tripped as he was breaking into the penalty area. Stuart Hardy sent Carroll the wrong way with a perfectly placed spot kick.
Carroll tipped McGowan's shot onto the post and Gary Charman lifted the ball wide of an empty goal, to leave manager John Maggs frustrated. He said: "If we had a goalscorer we would have won the game. We created so many chances with so little to show for it."
