I am a resident of Brighton and Hove, a taxpayer in possession of a parking permit and have just been notified I was given two parking tickets in August.
I appear to be paying someone to give me parking tickets - the same people who told me I need a permit to park outside my house; the same people who, allegedly, gave me two parking tickets.
Yet where are the wardens when parents park on pavements, double park, park on double yellow lines and so on? Nowhere.
Brighton and Hove City Council has no intention of addressing any parking problems around the Brighton College area and, instead, tries to persecute the residents.
It's not working and never will. We residents know we're right.
Fine, have it your way, take me to court. As an unemployed man who spends most of his time voluntarily picking up the pieces the council leaves behind, it stands no chance.
I hope it ploughs some of the vast profits it is making into mental health issues and voluntary organisations instead of administration costs of parking tickets.
Wait a mo' - who am I kidding? This is a game, isn't it?
As long as we have sewage in our sea, rubbish uncollected on our streets, residential care homes closing and apartments appearing, breast-care units moving, homelessness, huge drugs and mental health issues and wardens giving carers tickets, I will never accept the council as an authority over me.
Its threatening letters are in the post. Welcome to planet Earth.
