A man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a car plunged into a West Sussex lake has been released on bail.
The man, believed to be in his 50s, was held for questioning after a green Vauxhall Astra Estate plunged into Swanbourne Lake, Arundel, on Monday evening.
Minutes earlier a car had been seen in Arundel town centre. Police say it was being driven in "an erratic manner".
The driver and a woman passenger were taken to separate hospitals after escaping from the car.
Police later revealed a man was being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder.
A spokeswoman said today: "A man has been released on bail for six weeks pending further inquiries."
