Albion manager Peter Taylor has paid tribute to the character of the team after they stretched their unbeaten away League run to five games.
The Seagulls came from 2-0 down early in the second half to draw 2-2 at Notts County last night with goals by Gary Hart and Bobby Zamora.
Taylor said: "I knew about the fight of the team, but that was really evident. I saw a good performance at home to Oldham on Saturday, but we were in the lead so we didn't have to show much character.
"This time they had to show real character. To be 2-0 down at a tricky place to get a result showed how strong they are as a group."
Nick Fenton headed County in front just before half time when Albion keeper Michel Kuipers failed to cut out a Gary Owers corner.
Ian Richardson doubled the deficit with a header from an Owers free kick, but Hart scored for the second away League match running on 63 minutes and Zamora added his tenth of the season ten minutes later.
"We played very well in the first half but gave a poor goal away when everyone felt the goalkeeper was either blocked or had to deal with it," Taylor said. "It was disappointing to go in 1-0 down and the second goal was poor defensively for us as well.
"If you let in at set pieces it hurts you. We needed a goal back, which Hart thankfully provided, and that gave us the belief that we could do it. Once Bobby got the second one I really fancied us to go on and win."
Albion's fightback followed some inspired substitutions by Taylor. He brought on Nathan Jones for Lee Steele, then Paul Rogers and Dirk Lehmann in a double substitution once Hart had reduced the arrears.
"The changes were to get the ball forward a lot quicker," added Taylor. "We got a goal at the right time, then pushed three up front. To me that was worth a go."
Captain Charlie Oatway, replaced by Rogers with Albion 2-1 behind, said: "I honestly believed we could get back in the game. We have got a great bunch of lads who are not going to lay down and die.
"We are on at each other on the pitch, because we want to do better. It might look as if we are having a row with each other, but we're not. It just shows the spirit in the camp."
Albion are still in second place ahead of Saturday's visit by Colchester, although Brentford have gone two points clear after hammering Bury 5-1 at home.
