It is good news for Brighton and Hove that a dental practice is setting up in the city which will offer NHS treatment and treatment-on-demand for visitors.
Since the changes to dental funding were introduced, which made going to the dentist as painful to the pocket as the mouth, more and more people have shunned dental care because they could not afford it.
It has also meant people arriving in the city have had difficulty finding a dentist who doesn't charge the earth for the work or demand subscriptions to the Denplan scheme.
The new St James's Street Dental Centre seems, at first glance, to be a good idea.
Bu,t because of the way dental services are managed, it will have to make some charges, as unfortunately there is no such thing as free dental care these days.
The current mish-mash of dental care being part NHS, part private, part subscription, is confusing and needs to be sorted out, otherwise thousands more will have a rotten time.
