Sussex are back in business after going to Wales and defeating Gwent in their County Championship clash.
The visitors got their title challenge up and running with a 22-14 overall win, which included victories in three out of the four sections, giving them three more bonus points.
Good news for Sussex was the return to form of the ladies' teams, who both won after being demolished in the championship opener against Dorset.
The B outfit kicked off the weekend with a 5-1 triumph, spearheaded by Carly Blay's lady of the match display in a 3-2 win.
Glenys Laker won in three straight sets, while there were also 3-2 wins for Brenda Kirkwood, Barbara Hills and Tina McGovern.
The men's B team drew 6-6, despite losing six sets in a row, to take Sussex into the overnight break with an 11-7 lead.
Ian Burnett was man of the match with a 28.88 average in his 3-1 victory, while Paul Eves won 3-0, including a 141 game shot, Dave Saker 3-0 and Craig Deeley 3-2, plus wins by Jason Hills and Andy Hills.
The A teams faced a host of Welsh internationals, but the ladies conjured up a 4-2 win, while the men edged out Gwent 7-5.
Karen Winter, with a lady of the match 19.78 average, won 3-2, while Chrissy Allen scored a brilliant 3-1 win, and there were victories for Donna Rainsley and Trish Kidd.
Lee Gladman was man of the match with a 27.86 average in his 3-1 win, while Rod Hawkins provided the icing on the cake with game shots of 123 and 106 on his comeback to form.
Geoff Taylor won in straight sets, and there were wins for Keith Price, Ricki Blay, John Nisbet and Simon Wood.
