Donald Bearman led Steyning to a clearcut team victory in the Cambridge Harriers Winter Racing Walking League at Bexley.
Right from the start, Bearman swept aside the attentions of British international Mark Easton (Surrey) and clubmate Tim Watt as he romped away to a 200m-victory, clocking 21min.54sec.
Easton clocked 22min.41sec, while Watt was a similar distance away in third place in 23min.23sec.
Veteran Richard Emsley completed the Steyning trio in ninth in 27min.47sec to give his club 13 points to Ilford's 22 points and Enfield's 49.
In the women's 5km-race, South African Estle Viljeon proved too strong for 17-year old Sophie Hales from Steyning.
Although Hales was closing down on the South African in the final kilometre, there was still a 40m gap at the finish with the Sussex athlete clocking an excellent 25min.14sec, 20 seconds down on the winner.
Steyning team-mate Jo Hesketh had a good walk to finish third in 25min.59sec.
