A man with a young child was attacked outside a busy Brighton shopping centre.
Police were called to Churchill Square on Saturday afternoon after a fight broke out. They arrested two men.
At least three other people were also involved.
Officers from the force Anti-Victimisation Unit, which investigates race-related crime, are continuing their inquiries and appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault to contact them.
