Chichester suffered a crushing 7-0 defeat at home to Oxford University in the Southern Premier on Saturday.
The away side arrived in Sussex without a win in the league this season, while Chi were fresh from their first victory of the campaign, a 5-4 success at Eastcote.
However, Chi were completely outplayed throughout as the senior players failed to make any impact on the game.
From the start, Oxford passed and moved the ball around at such pace that Chichester were chasing shadows for most of the game. As the pressure on the defence mounted it was down the flanks that Oxford turned pressure into goals.
Steve Jones, the Chichester captain and goalkeeper, spent most of the afternoon trying the organise the defence and still made some impressive saves. By midway through the first half the goals started to come and there was little Jones could do.
Chichester did have some good patches and penetrated the Oxford defence on several occasions only to be beaten by the crossbar or a saving tackle.
Of most concern is the side's home form. In the last two seasons Chichester have been impressive on the College astro but they have yet to pick up a point at home this season.
This Saturday they hope to bounce back away to Old Cranleighans.
