The bilious outpourings of Jason Martin (Letters, October 24) were fairly typical of the more immoderate elements of the so-called Allies For Democracy.

Extreme personal abuse and misinformation seemed to be the name of the game for many in the No campaign.

That said, as both Ken Bodfish and Roger French publicly stated, the vote has been held and the decision must be respected.

What defies belief, however, is where Mr Martin attacked Hove MP Ivor Caplin for not having secured a new ground for Brighton and Hove Albion.

Anyone with an ounce of sense would understand it is beyond the gift of a single MP alone to make Falmer a reality for the Albion.

What we do have in Ivor, though, is a local politician who has always made his love of the Albion plain for all to see and who is working non-stop behind the scenes, along with others, to bring a lasting solution to Albion's plight.
