Thousands of children who appear to be clumsy or inattentive may have a very good reason for their problem.
The Royal National Institute for the Blind has discovered one in five children has undetected poor sight.
It would be simple for the Government to introduce standard eye screening for all children when they enter primary and secondary school, as already happens in parts of Sussex.
Many eye complaints can be corrected if caught at an early stage but they are harder to deal with later.
Until tests are offered by schools, parents should make sure their children have eye tests. Money is no barrier as they are free.
It's obvious that some children have poor vision but for others, sight problems can only be detected in tests.
