Fiona Train asks what I plan to contribute to the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee in the House of Commons (Letters, October 25).

The immediate concerns of the whole committee will be an inquiry into the future of UK agriculture, particularly in the light of reform of the Common Agricultural Policy, and the possible reductions in production subsidy.

We will also look into flood prevention.

I am part of a smaller group which will consider radioactive waste policy.

Over the next four years, there will be many other inquiries. Details of them will be found on the web site parliament.uk/commons/selcom/efrahome
