So Councillor Parkin (Letters, November 3) and his CIA cronies are scared of open government, are they?
Why does he see the Labour group's right to call for full and open scrutiny on all of their decisions as "chaos"?
Is he really that scared of explaining himself in public? He should be.
Since his rag-tag army took control in Adur, they have time and time again sought to use the revised committee structure processes to keep their mistakes out of sight and have now, with Liberal Democrat support, refused to reconsider their actions that have been well reported in The Argus in the past six months.
With the executive and scrutiny processes cut off from us, we have had to take the drastic action of a direct appeal to an emergency council meeting for them to take seriously the concerns raised through petitions, evidence to scrutiny and motions to council.
I consider Southwick Square to be more than just a political football.
It is a thriving and socially-supportive shopping centre that I cannot allow to become a cash cow for this true-blue administration's desire to put profit ahead of a sustainable future for the square.
-Coun Daniel Yates, Leader of Adur Labour Group
