Eastbourne was today celebrating a major jobs coup after council bosses approved plans to build two fast food restaurants.
Up to 100 posts are set to be created after councillors approved plans for restaurants at the Admiral Retail Park and Langney Shopping Centre.
They backed the Langney scheme despite the fears of objectors in Swanley Close and Pensfold Drive, who said it would mean cooking smells, litter and noise.
They were also concerned about the proposed opening hours, 8am to 11pm, and worried the site could become a congregation area for young people after pub closing time.
The plans approved last night were for a 114-seat Pizza Hut restaurant at the Admiral Retail Park in Lottbridge Drove and a drive-through restaurant at the Langney Shopping Centre in Langney Drive.
Borough councillors heard the 300 sq metre Langney site would be operated by McDonald's, Burger King or Kentucky Fried Chicken.
The planning and licensing committee unanimously approved both applications, saying they would create jobs for youngsters and boost trade at both shopping centres.
Committee chairman Patrick Bowker said: "Should the applicants find occupiers then this will be a great jobs boost for Eastbourne."
