In reply to Don Black, the LDV Trophy is not a big attraction anywhere in the country and, if he looked, out of 15 games played, we were the third highest gate.
As for other attendances, it has always been the same in Sussex, be it the Albion, cricket or basketball - people will only support winning teams.
When we got relegated to the old fourth division, we had gates of between 7,000 and 8,000.
The year we started winning and got promotion from that division, we had gates of 20,000-25,000.
Thousands jumped on the bandwagon in the late Seventies and early Eighties when we were on the up. When we were going down again, they deserted in droves.
Now they are all moaning they can't get tickets for Withdean. Where were they when the club needed them?
I'll tell you - staying away until they started winning again. Just wait until they lose a few games and see what happens.
