I was very pleased to see Sussex has, at last, a new chief constable and was interested to see he brings with him a strong commitment to neighbourhood policing.
Let us hope this belief is retained and that we will now see a force that has a more visible presence, is less concerned about getting "coppers" out of the speed cameras and is more concerned with putting real coppers back on the beat.
We need Sussex Police to become positive and prominent. So this is your challenge, Mr Jones. Please be aware of the need for a realistic and reliable approach that is seen to be operating for the people.
