Brighton maintained the pressure at the top of the Kent/Sussex Regional League by romping to an 11-0 win over Gillingham Anchorians.
With six wins from their first seven games, Brighton are just a point behind leaders Holcombe.
Significantly, this rout means Brighton now have a far superior goal difference than their title rivals.
Skipper Carlo Missirian said: "They were not a pushover. They are a strong side and it was only 2-0 at half time.
"It was a physical game but the discipline of the side was superb. Pete Ashdown, our goalkeeper, and the four defenders did not let them get into the game at all.
"All our goals came from us winning the ball at the back or in midfield. Without the defensive platform we would not have won by that much.
"There were times at 2-0 when Gillingham could have got back into it. It wasn't won at half time but it was five minutes after half time."
That short period of play proved to be the turning point. Mohamed Samak netted a great individual goal and fellow Egyptian international Mohamed Nagey then scored one of the best goals in the recent history of the club.
Nagey finished with a hat-trick, taking his tally to 13 for the season in seven games.
Graham Pruce also scored a hat-trick, Samak scored twice and there was one apiece for Dan Hacking, Dave Delea and Missirian.
Mid Sussex, who Brighton play this weekend, gave a good account of themselves despite losing 3-1 to Holcombe.
The leaders scored two soft goals in the first half and added another early in the second half.
Skipper Andy Green pulled one back from a well-worked short corner but, despite continuing to press, Mids could not narrow the deficit further.
Mids were not helped by Green being yellow carded in the first half while Phil Middleton and James Goodwin were sin-binned in the second.
Horsham are up to fourth in the table after a 2-0 win against Folkestone thanks to goals from Ian Brown and Andrew Beer.
Crawley were denied their first league win of the season as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Ashford.
Captain Terry Higgs said: "I am extremely disappointed not to have won this match against very poor opposition. To have 65-70 per cent of the possession and not win is disappointing.
"Having a goal disallowed and then a penalty being awarded only for the umpire to reverse his decision just sums up our luck at the moment but it has got to change soon."
Crawley started strongly with Chris Rai and Adrian Shuttleworth going close and Higgs having a goal disallowed.
Ashford then took the lead only for Crawley to level through a Watkins tap-in just before the break.
In the second half Keith Frimley set up Higgs to put Crawley 2-1 ahead and the home side were also denied a penalty when Higgs' shot appeared to be stopped on the line by a defender's leg.
Then, with 20 seconds remaining, Ashford broke to grab an equaliser.
Worthing tumbled to a 3-0 defeat away to Herne Bay.
Skipper Simon Holloway, who had one of Worthing's few chances, said: "I can't argue with it. At half time we were lucky to be only 2-0 down."
