Haywards Heath need to show more passion and aggression from one to 15 if they are to halt their slide down London One.
That was the verdict of skipper Henry Goodburn after his side crashed 46-8 at Winchester, who were bottom of the table before play.
Goodburn gave his side the perfect start with a fifth minute try, speeding clear from halfway and rounding the fullback after Stuart Charnely's long pass had released him.
Winchester's pack then took over, causing havoc with driving lineouts and setting up a convincing win.
Owen Ashton's penalty gave Heath their other points.
It is now five defeats in a row for Heath and Goodburn admitted: "We were poor up front.
"We did all right for 20 minutes but then they saw our weakness, which was defending our lineout close to our line.
"Usually the forwards have performed and the backs haven't but this time there was a role reversal."
Heath lost Glenn Rankin with a neck injury to add to their list of absentees but Goodburn said: "We cannot use that as an excuse for five defeats.
"The players know they can play to the level required and they showed it at the start of the season and at Norwich."
