Home Office figures show there were more complaints per officer against Sussex Police last year than any other force in England and Wales.
It does not sound good news for a force rocked by the resignation of its Chief Constable this year following reaction to the death of an unarmed man shot dead by police officers.
Complaints against Sussex officers have been running at almost three times the national average.
It may be down to the way in which complaints are recorded. It could be that Sussex has an exceptionally volatile and disgrunted population.
It's true that only ten per cent of the complaints were substantiated, which is in line with the national average.
The test will come next year after a new Chief Constable beds in and a new system of recording complaints has settled down.
