Former Albion player John Crumplin wants a return to football management with St Leonards.
Crumplin made 245 appearances for Albion between 1987 and 1995 but is now captaining Saints.
The 34-year-old has only missed one game this season and is keen to solve the current crisis gripping the Firs.
On Wednesday, Terry White resigned from St Leonards just one week after he was brought to the club from rivals Hastings to replace Micky Taylor who was sacked.
St Leonards are now looking for their second manager in ten days following Taylor's dismissal and Crumplin insists he is the man to restore some much-needed stability to St Leonards.
He said: "I'm interested in taking the job. I want to get back into management. Ultimately I want to be a manager of a professional club but at the moment I have to start at the bottom and work my way up.
"It wouldn't be too difficult to make the situation any worse would it? I haven't managed at that level but I think the job requires a bit organisation and team strengthening. I could use my contacts to bring people in.
"I'd be able to organise the players and improve their fitness and sharpness levels. They need that, and non-league players like to go training and have fun, that helps with the team spirit. I think I could be constructive as well. It's no good to come in at half-time and just start shouting."
Crumplin holds a UEFA B licence and is a qualified physiotherapist and was previously in charge at Three Bridges and Selsey.
At Bridges he worked alongside Darren Barker, and the Saints defender says he would be keen to re-unit that partnership.
Crumplin said: "I'd like to take Darren with me if I got the job but I would not ask him because it wouldn't be fair on Three Bridges who are having an excellent season."
Saints have a shortlist of four names including Crumplin and chairman John Cornelius hopes to make a decision at next Wednesday's board meeting.
