The Queen will visit Sussex as part of her nationwide Golden Jubilee tour.

Her Majesty will visit West Sussex on June 7, it was announced today.

The Golden Jubilee tour marking her 50-year reign will take in all regions of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The climax of celebrations will be a four-day long weekend, from June 1 to June 4, when local street parties are being encouraged and there will be pop and classical music concerts in the Queen's garden at Buckingham Palace.

Tickets for the pop and classical concerts, during an extended June Bank Holiday weekend, are free to people across the UK and will be allocated by ballot.

The concerts - there are 14,000 tickets for each - are being produced and televised by the BBC and will be shown on giant screens erected near the Palace for people without tickets.

Following the pop concert on Monday June 3, the Queen will light a beacon signalling the start of a spectacular firework display and a chain of beacons stretching across the UK and the Commonwealth.

In addition, on Tuesday June 4, there will be a Golden Jubilee Carnival Pageant in The Mall, close to the Palace.

The Queen will attend a National Thanksgiving Service at St Paul's Cathedral, London, on June 4, followed by a Golden Jubilee lunch at Guildhall in the City of London.

The Queen is inviting people born on February 6, 1952 - Accession Day - to special Golden Jubilee garden parties.

Accession Day babies, who were born on the day the Queen came to the throne 50 years ago, could attend one of two garden parties hosted by the Queen and Prince Philip, in London and Edinburgh.
