Boss Peter Taylor reveals: "Danny told me he had spoken to the club before I got here. It's more to do with the training ground and stuff like that which has disappointed him."
Albion stay top as Stoke are stunned 6-1 by Wigan.
Goals by Steve Melton and Scott Ramsay give the reserves their first win of the season, but the 2-0 victory at Colchester is marred by injuries to Paul Rogers and Geoff Pitcher.
WEDNESDAY: Albion ease through to the third round of the FA Youth Cup with a 3-1 win at Newport County.
A Chris Greatwich hat-trick sets up a home tie against Hull for Dean Wilkins' youngsters.
THURSDAY: Lee Steele is eager to end his FA Cup duck against his old club Shrewsbury.
"I've never scored in the FA Cup, not even in the qualifying rounds for Bootle or Northwich," Bobby Zamora's strike partner reveals. "It would be nice to score against Shrewsbury."
FRIDAY: Taylor appeals to fans not to turn against Cullip.
"He is a very solid pro and he will not let this club down," says Taylor.
"Danny has given everything he has got since I have been here and I want people to encourage him while he is here."
