An aviation services company is cutting jobs across the UK but staff at Gatwick are safe for the time being.
John Menzies is to shed 200 jobs in its aviation division and 1,200 jobs worldwide.
Its Crawley office near Gatwick is not affected but the group is having a reshuffle.
A spokeswoman said: "The 200 have already been announced although they have not been totally implemented. There have not been any compulsory redundancies in Crawley."
The job cuts are being blamed on the slowing economy.
Job cuts will be made through a mixture of voluntary and compulsory redundancies, although some posts will go through natural wastage.
As well as cargo handling, the division provides a number of other services, from cleaning to baggage handling and ticketing.
