There aren't any Christmas decorations in the home of Claire and Shaun Chappell in Carden Avenue, Brighton, this year.
That's because they were concerned their battling baby Sophie might not even live to see the day.
Sophie contracted a rare form of meningitis, which has a high fatality rate, in November.
The Argus has written many stories this year criticising various aspects of the National Health Service.
But from the moment Sophie saw the family doctor to the time when neurological surgeons carried out a life-saving operation in London, she received the best care possible.
Now the Chappells are slowly returning to normality and have even bought a few Christmas gifts.
But the presence of Sophie growing stronger by the day is the best present they could possibly have.
