Boxer Michael Alldis had a year plagued by injury and controversy.
It has been a tough year for me. Beating Patrick Mullings to win the Lonsdale belt outright should have been the highlight of the year but that was taken away from me. Most people thought I had done enough to win it. When I heard Mullings had failed a drugs test, that gave me hope so I suppose that was the highlight of the year for me.
What are your aims in 2002?
I will be fighting Brian Carr for the British and Commonwealth super-bantamweight titles in January. To win those titles is the biggest aim for me. Nothing else is going through my mind.
How do you plan to spend Christmas?
My family are in Miami at the moment. I was meant to be going with them but I had to cancel because of this fight in January. I will be spending Christmas with my wife and kids but most of it will be spent in the gym.
Speedway: Martin Dugard I was getting relieved, knowing that every meeting I did there was only one more left to do I was looking forward to it. I've done it for 16 years so now it was time to give up and look for better things to do.
I ran the indoor Speedway in Brighton a few weeks ago. Now I've got Xmas to get past. I also work for my father's company Dugard Machine Tools in Brighton and some of the other riders work here too. While everybody is busy getting their speedway gear, I can just sit back and watch what goes on.
What are your plans for next year?
Next year I will sit back and enjoy it and finally have my weekends to my family and myself.
Do you see yourself getting back into the sport?
Maybe but I don't think so.
How do you intend to spend Christmas?
Sit back and relax, I don't have anything planned.
