Icy roads caused several crashes in north and east Sussex today.
A van and a lorry were involved in a smash at Wellbrook Hill, near Mayfield on the A267 at 4.55am.
Police believe the lorry skidded on ice before it came to rest half way up a roadside bank.
One man was taken to hospital and the road was closed throughout the morning as firefighters and police cleared away debris.
A police spokesman said: "We had several reports of crashes throughout the north of the county.
"There was one on the A24 and another one further down on the A267 but the one at Mayfield seemed most serious.
"The main roads were gritted but some of the back roads have had a few crunches.
"The ice seemed to have thawed and then it rained and froze again."
