Worthing boss Barry Lloyd has admitted he is unlikely to repeat the experiment of playing top scorer Gavin Geddes as a right-sided midfielder.
Rebels fans were bemused when Geddes was asked to patrol the right touchline in Wednesday's 2-0 derby defeat at home to Bognor.
Geddes, who played in that role as a youngster with Lloyd at Albion, is likely to be back in attack as Northwood visit tomorrow.
Lloyd said: "I like playing with wide people and Gavin has played there before, but not in recent seasons. I spoke to him about it a couple of weeks ago. He told me he preferred the freedom up front and I knew it was a gamble.
"I don't think I would do it again. He didn't particularly enjoy it."
Lloyd's selection will hinge on Mark Burt's recovery from illness, allowing Darren Baxter to revert to the right.
That would leave Geddes competing for a front slot with Ben Carrington and Gavin Jones.
There was nothing wrong with Geddes's performance in the derby.
He created his side's best chance, passed the ball economically and got through defensive chores.
But, as second top scorer in division one, Rebels fans would rather see Geddes going for goal than heading the ball away from Scott Ramsay in the Worthing goalmouth.
Bognor boss Jack Pearce insists his side were overdue a bit of luck in the derby. The Boxing Day victory took them level on points with leaders Aylesbury.
Pearce admitted: "I thought the result flattered us, but there have been numerous games this year where we have played really good quality football, created lots of openings and lost or drawn.
"This time we didn't play very well but we had a very good result."
Rocks have no game tomorrow but host Barking on New Year's Day.
Ramsay's loan spell may to have come to a premature end. He faces three weeks out after damaging ankle ligaments on Wednesday.
Martin Lempriere is doubtful for Horsham's division two trip to Hungerford after damaging a knee after 15 seconds of the bruising Boxing Day derby at Lewes.
Boss John Maggs was disappointed not to win that one but said: "All credit to the lads. We stayed out of trouble and kept our run going."
Horsham are unbeaten in 11 league games but have drawn their last two.
