After suffering years of anti-Euro propaganda by most of the national Press, it was refreshing to read Adam Trimingham's article (December 27) about the UK's mistake in not joining the Euro at the start.
Of course, he is right that France and the other EU states will never agree to lose their nationality in a European super state.
My own political party should drop its fertile, save-the-pound policy, which lost it many votes at the last General Election.
Brighton and Hove, with its many language-school students from the rest of the EU, will lose out badly if shops, hotels, restaurants, pubs, clubs and businesses do not welcome dealing in Euros from the start.
I urge fellow members of the Conservative Party, if you ever want to regain power, turn away from the negative Little-Englander scare stories and campaign for the UK to join the Euro now.
