The pilot of a light aircraft was killed when his plane crashed at a Sussex airfield.
The single-engine Robin crashed at the Goodwood aerodrome within sight of the control tower at 4.10pm yesterday.
Police said the pilot, who has not been named, came from outside Sussex.
He was the only person on board the plane, which was based at Goodwood Flying School, near Chichester.
A spokesman for the flying school said: "It was flying over the airfield when it crashed. It had only just taken off and was not coming in to land."
The pilot was cut free from the wreckage by firefighters but was pronounced dead.
Tony Haughton, director of Goodwood airfield and motor circuit, said conditions at the time were not bad.
