As the festive season passes for another year, I wonder how many people have seriously gone into debt to pay for these two days?
Without being a killjoy, I cannot help but wonder if it is worth it. The meaning of Christmas is the birth of Christ and was never intended to be a big spending spree.
It is very sad we have a generation of children who do not know the Christmas story. The singing of carols has lapsed in many of our schools so it was good to see the pictures of school nativity plays (The Argus, December 21).
It may be an idea to remind the older students of the true meaning of Christmas. This would do no harm and would surely not upset the politically correct.
