Lewes snatched victory with two injury time goals at Wembley to maintain their position at the top of division two.
Against the run of play Wembley took the lead in the 51st minute when a shot out of nowhere from Kevin Mason-Thomson beat goalkeeper Ross Standen.
Lewes seemed certain to return empty handed but a good move saw Lee Newman produce a shot which struck a defender before falling to substitute Ryan Hackett who fired the ball into the net.
Rooks pushed forward and in the second minute of injury time Marc Cable headed the ball back for Ross Venables to score.
Meanwhile, Horsham stretched their unbeaten run to 12 games as a first-half onslaught laid the foundations for a 4-1 triumph at Leatherhead.
Hornets took the lead after two minutes when Marcel Dennis clipped the ball past startled goalkeeper Justin Gray.
It took a moment of individual brilliance to get Horsham back on track after a bout of Leatherhead pressure as Gary Charman wrongfooted Tommy Smith on the left before driving the ball over Gray into the far corner of the goal in the 32nd minute.
Hornets then tore their hosts apart. Gray saved at full stretch from John Kirby two minutes later, but former Leatherhead manager Tommy Warrilow was on hand to stab home Eddie French's flick-on from the resultant corner.
It was 4-0 seven minutes later. Dennis worked some space on the right, floated over a curling cross and Kirby rose highest at the far post to thunder a header past the helpless Gray.
In the last minute Alex Inglethorpe finally broke through a resilient Hornets backline to clip the ball past Ian Chatfield.
