Three men and a woman were arrested on suspicion of immigration offences after police swooped on a house.
The four from Eastern Europe, Palestine and Ukraine were taken to Eastbourne police station on suspicion of overstaying in the UK and entering the country illegally.
Six officers made the arrests after liaising with the Immigration Service.
Sergeant Robin Barrasford said: "This shows that when two organisations like Sussex Police and the Immigration Service work together, the end result is likely to be successful in terms of making arrests."
It was not known whether the four had been working in the town. Police were continuing their inquiries today.
