While visiting my son and his family, I happened to read Sally Hall's article "An oasis of inspiration" (The Argus, December 28).
Having been chairman of a drug rehabilitation charity solely for women and their children for 14 years, I am in a position to correct Ms Hall's statement that the Oasis project is the only scheme in the country that focuses only on women and children.
Hebron Trust in Norwich, from its start in 1987, dealt solely with the rehabilitation of women.
Four years ago, it added a separate house for mothers with children.
This dealt with the problem of those women who wanted to get out of their addiction but did not want to put their child into care.
It is not true to say all other services treat both men and women. There are a number that concentrate on men and a few others that focus only on women and children.
The Standing Committee On Drug Abuse (Scoda) should be able to provide up-to-date information.
